This year marks a milestone for Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Japan. The event features their first-ever R-18 house, requiring guests to be 18+ and sign a waiver before entering.

Lights Out: Nightmare Isolation

Lights Out: Nightmare Isolation, also known as Afterimage, is the first R-18 house in Halloween Horror Nights history. R-18 is equivalent to an R rating in the U.S.

Symbolizing the unprecedented terror of the 15th Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Japan, Lights Out: Nightmare Isolation puts guests through extreme situations of isolation and confinement as they visit a facility that studies nightmares. Described as an “abnormal space where the boundary between hallucination and reality blurs,” the house will present a “real hell” of “heinous acts that one desperately wants to escape from.” Entry is 1,900 yen.

Filming inside the house is not allowed, but we were able to record audio, which you can hear in our video below.

The house is open from 10 a.m. to park close during Halloween Horror Nights, which runs from September 11 through November 8.
