Warmer, drier days ahead for Central Florida, but a cooldown is coming. Here’s when

After days of heavy rain and historic flooding, Central Florida is finally getting a break. Rain chances drop to just 20% to 30% for most of the area this week.

Rain outlook

A large area of high pressure north of Florida will keep easterly winds in place Wednesday, but the breeze will gradually weaken as the high pressure ridge settles over the region.

A few passing showers remain possible Wednesday, with rain chances around 20% to 30%. Drier air will move in late week, dropping rain chances to 10% or less Thursday and Friday.

A weak cold front is expected to move through Saturday, but it is not expected to bring much moisture or meaningful rainfall. High pressure will then build back in, keeping the weekend mostly dry.

Temperature outlook

Despite the recent rainy stretch, temperatures will remain warm for early November. Highs will reach the mid-80s through Friday, with heat index values climbing into the upper 80s and near 90.

This will bring a minor HeatRisk for those more sensitive to the heat, especially anyone without access to cooling or proper hydration.

Temperatures will ease slightly over the weekend, with highs in the low to mid-80s Saturday before dropping into the mid-70s to near 80 early next week.

Coastal hazards

Even with drier weather moving in, flooding will not disappear overnight. Areas hit hardest by Monday’s historic rainfall, especially southern Brevard County, will need time for water levels to recede.

At the beaches, a high risk of life-threatening rip currents continues along all Central Florida Atlantic beaches Wednesday.

Cooler next week?

Forecast models are showing some disagreement about the weather pattern early next week. One solution brings a stronger system and cold front across Florida Tuesday, while another keeps conditions mostly dry through Tuesday with rain chances increasing around midweek.

For now, rain chances remain low at 20% to 30% Monday and Tuesday. We’ll continue to watch how that system evolves, but the overall forecast favors several more dry days ahead.
